Kasia is going relaxed to the Giro Rosa

Kasia Niewiadoma travels with confidence to the Giro Rosa. WM3 Pro Cycling’s Polish team captain won the OVO Energy Women’s Tour in England early June. She is hoping the Giro Rosa could be a showcase to demonstrate her talent and ability.

Kasia, WorldTour leader, founded the basis for her final victory of the British stage race in the first stage with a stunning solo. Afterwards, she was applauded by all sides for her amazing performance, although Kasia herself remained calm. To her, the victory was a confirmation of what she had suspected all along: that she was in good condition. “I have been motivated from the beginning of the year and am bursting with confidence. I was especially happy that all the hard work repaid itself and that I could finally celebrate a really big victory with my team. The team supported me unconditionally and ensured that I could feel comfortable.”

In balance
Kasia got, as a supertalent, a place in our team a couple of years ago. She took a major step forward in the past season and this year proves to be a very strong team captain.  She moved to Girona (Spain) last winter, a cycling hotbed where she fine-tunes her shape. “The circumstances are terrific.  It seems like the life of a cyclist is easier in Girona. You never have to worry about the weather conditions to complete the planned training sessions”, says Kasia. “I’m also surrounded by many friends who make me forget from time to time that I am a cyclist which helps me to find the right balance.”

Prior to the season, Kasia made yet another important choice: she started working with a personal coach. “The support from the team is excellent. However, I chose to have a coach who is slightly closer to me. This season, I started cooperating with Arek, someone who knows me very well and who is also Polish which I enjoy very much. I have the feeling this cooperation adds a little extra.”

Enjoying the suffering
Even though many eyes will be on Kasia during the Giro Rosa, she does not experience any pressure.  She returned to Spain after the OVO Energy Women’s Tour to complete a series of training blocks and to study the technical fiches of the Giro Rosa stages. “Some people already considered me a future Giro Rosa winner a couple of years ago, but that doesn’t keep me occupied. I only have one goal: to enjoy racing as much as possible. From there, many beautiful things can emerge”, says Kasia. “I’ve always loved the Giro Rosa and I hold nice memories of this race. I’m looking forward to fighting and suffering during those 10 days with my team.”
