WM3 Pro Cycling took several times an initiative in the Salverda Omloop van de IJsseldelta on Saturday noon, but these efforts unfortunately did not lead to a high ranking. Nina Buysman won in the streets of Zwolle. The Salverda Omloop van de IJsseldelta was the final race in the context of the KNWU top-competition in which Marianne Vos came out on top.
“We have tried to break the race open from the beginning. The peloton broke into 4 pieces, but the willingness to keep going was, except for WM3, too limited. Two bigger groups with a total of around 70 riders, dissolved again”, says DS Eric van den Boom.
A truce prevailed for a long time. However, after around 100 kilometres into the race, 4 WM3 Pro Cycling riders cranked up the pace again. “We tried to break up the peloton but did not succeed as there was not enough wind”, according to Eric van den Boom.
Rotem Gafinovitz, Moniek Tenniglo, Yara Kastelijn and Jeanne Korevaar tried to jump away several times in the final, but remained unsuccessful. The breakaway of Loes Adegeest and Nina Buysman was the right one whereby Buysman could claim the victory. WM3 Pro Cycling did not play a role in the sprint for 3rd place.
Marianne Vos won the overall and final ranking of the top-competition, even though she did not participate in this race. She is at the moment following a training camp with the national selection, together with other WM3 riders, Anouska Koster and Riejanne Markus. Riejanne finished second in the final ranking of the top-competition.
