After the Amstel Gold Race, there is another UCI Women’s WorldTour-race on the programme, namely the Waalse Pijl in the Ardennes on Wednesday. Rotem Gafinovitz, Jeanne Korevaar, Anouska Koster, Riejanne Markus, Pauliena Rooijakkers and Sabrina Stultiens will wear the WaowDeals-jersey in this Ardennes classic.

The Waalse Pijl is 118.5 kilometres long, consisting of 2 loops south of Huy with a total of 7 tough climbs. The combination of the Côte de Cherave (1.3 kilometre at 8.1 percent) and the Muur of Huy (1.3 kilometre at 9.6 percent) will traditionally cause a sporting battle deep in the final.

“The run-up is somewhat flatter than in previous years. The course is hilly in the first racing hour, but without proper climbs. This changes after the Côte de Warre (after well over 40 kilometres, red.)”, says sports director Jeroen Blijlevens. “The final is really difficult. The specialist climbers will surface here.”
