The Ronde van Drenthe is the first Dutch UCI Women’s World Tour of the season. Sports director Jeroen Blijlevens brings these 6 strong riders to the start: Dani Rowe, Monique van de Ree, Riejanne Markus, Jeanne Korevaar, Anouska Koster and Marianne Vos. The latter starts her season, as planned, in Drenthe.
The course of the Ronde van Drenthe has been modified this season with the start no longer in Hoogeveen, but in Emmen. The finish, however, is still in Hoogeveen. In between, the riders will tackle the famous VAMberg 4 times and a set of 7 cobble sectors.
“We will have to digest a long race of 157 kilometres which is rather unusual”, says Jeroen Blijlevens. “It will make for a tough race. Fortunately, we have a group full of quality and laterally strong. We hope to make the difference in the final.”
Livestream
WaowDeals Pro Cycling obviously hopes for a lot of support in Drenthe. Those who cannot be there in person, will be able to follow the UCI Women’s World Tour-race from home. RTV Drenthe and the NOS will broadcast the Ronde van Drenthe via livestream (look on the channels’ websites). The NOS starts its broadcast at 1.30 pm.
