WaowDeals Pro Cycling starts its road season in Australia

WaowDeals Pro Cycling’s road season starts in Australia where 6 of our riders start in 4 different races, the first being the Santos Women’s Tour Down Under (11 – 14 January). DS Jeroen Blijlevens is looking forward to it. “The national championships are already taking place in Australia, as usual.  We could expect a strong competition.”

The trip to Australia will be a considerable switch for the WaowDeals Pro Cycling riders. While the temperature here is only slightly above freezing point, the mercury can rise above 30 degrees over there. “It will be getting used to. We come from a cold country and are still in preparation. In Australia, they are already racing for the national titles.”

Jeroen counts on his 6 riders (Rotem Gafinovitz, Jeanne Korevaar, Anouska Koster, Riejanne Markus, Monique van de Ree, Sabrina Stultiens) to compete in pleasant, sportsmanlike battles in the coming weeks. “The Australian riders will be at “wartime” for these races. They are probably already further in their preparation than we are which can only be encouraged as it adds to the competitiveness and which makes it particularly tough for us.

New boost
It is the first time that WaowDeals Pro Cycling opts for a season opening in Australia. “Sometimes, it is good to renew.  This gives yet another boost”, says Jeroen. “The trip to Australia is also a solid preparation for the spring-season in Europe for us. We will cover a lot of ground, ride races, build up strength and, as such, grow physically and mentally which we hope to benefit from the rest of the year.”

Moreover, by choosing to race in Australia, the team wants to show its appreciation for all the efforts being done Down Under. “The organisations are committed to strengthen women’s cycling.  During, for instance, the Santos Women’s Tour Down Under, many spectators will be on the side of the road, making it even more fantastic.”

WaowDeals Pro Cycling rides these races:

  • Santos Women’s Tour Down Under (11-14 January)
  • Zero Race Melbourne (25 January)
  • Daikin University Elite Women's Race (27 January)
  • Women's Harold SunTour (30-31 January)
