With Monique van de Ree (29) and Pauliena Rooijakkers (24), WaowDeals Pro Cycling adds another two names to the selection for 2018. Both Dutch riders hope to advance to the next step in their career in DS Jeroen Blijlevens’ team.
Monique van de Ree calls the transfer to WaowDeals Pro Cycling ‘a step forward’. “Especially the professional approach towards racing is appealing to me. The team knows like no other how to tactically handle a race and how to become stronger as team”, she says. “I am looking forward to start with my new teammates with a clear plan of action. It is great to be able to support riders of this magnitude, which will be a new role for me. Most likely, I will get my own chances if they fit in the team plan. The Belgian classics and the Dutch tour races in the spring are well suited for me.
Also for Pauliena Rooijakkers, the professionalism of the cycling team and the organisation was decisive. “I wanted a new challenge which made me progress. At WaowDeals Pro Cycling, I have the feeling that I can take the next steps in my career. You can tell that the riders in this team are stronger together and everyone is keen to bring success to the others. It gives me a good feeling that I can be part of that. In the first instance, I will have a more supporting role, especially in hilly races”, says the addition from Brabant, who is happy with the strong 2018-selection.
Australia
Earlier in the week, the arrival of British Dani Rowe was announced. A couple of weeks ago, Sabrina Stultiens signed a contract with WaowDeals Pro Cycling, as the formation will be called as of 1 January. DS Jeroen Blijlevens’ team now has a clear outline for the upcoming season. The new selection will come together for the first team next month when they will complete a training camp in Australia. The kick-off of the new road cycling season will also be in Australia, starting for WaowDeals Pro Cycling in January at the Santos Women’s Tour. A couple of our riders will also be present in the cyclo-cross.
