Dani Rowe signs for WaowDeals Pro Cycling

British reinforcement for our team. As of next season, Dani Rowe (26) will be part of our team, which will be known as WaowDeals Pro Cycling. The 2012 Olympic Team Pursuit champion hopes to further her progress on her journey to the top of road cycling.

“The transfer to this team is an amazing opportunity for me”, she says. “Watching from outside, I have always had a lot of appreciation for the professionalism of the riders and the organisation of this team. The way in which they race is very appealing: the team management communicates a clear plan of action and everyone contributes to that success and is valued for their contribution, crucial in times when women’s cycling becomes increasingly professional.”

Dani is looking forward to quickly join the team, but first is enjoying her honeymoon having recently got married in Wales. “As soon as I’m back, I will start to train in order to be ready for the season. My career as a road cyclist is still young. This year, I have ridden many races for the first time and I hope to prove next year that I have improved as a road cyclist and that I am more experienced. I also want to be strong for the Commonwealth Games.”

Established name
Dani Rowe (nee King) is an established name in international cycling; especially in Great Britain where she is considered one of cycling’s biggest stars, having achieved great success as a track cyclist in the past years. Dani is a 3 times World Champion in the team pursuit and Olympic Champion in that same discipline (2012). In 2014 she shifted her focus to road cycling and has already had noticeable results with top 10s in World Tour races such as the OVO Energy Women’s Tour. During this year’s road race at the World Championships in Bergen, Norway, she was one of the key players as Great Britain animated the race.

Advancing to the top
Team manager Eric van den Boom is delighted with Dani’s arrival. “She is determined to advance to the top and we believe she is capable”, he says. “In addition, it is nice that we can add someone with her track record to our selection. Her achievements are not just anybody’s. The similarities with Marianne Vos are striking. Both became Olympic champion in 2012, and in 2011, Marianne and Dani took gold and bronze at the World Track Championships in the Scratch Race.”
