Marianne Vos and Riejanne Markus open their training for cyclists, one-time only, on 16 and 17 September, respectively. They do so in the context of La Ride, an initiative from Ridley. The Belgian bicycle company challenges female cyclists to complete training rides of at least 100 kilometres during September and to share these via Strava (La Ridley). Cyclists who succeed get a digital goodie bag.
Marianne Vos organises her La Ride on Saturday 16 September. The ride will be one of her last ones on Dutch soil before leaving to Bergen for the World Championship. Cyclists gather in the morning at the parking lot of De Koppelpaarden (Oude Kerkstraat 1, Dussen). The group leaves at 10 am, led by Marianne Vos. Both men and women can participate and the brand of the bike does not matter.

“During training rides, it happens that one or another cyclist secretly sticks to my wheel. At my La Ride, I hope that there will be many more. Together, we will make a significant training of at least 100 kilometres covering my favourite roads in Brabant. I am in the middle of my preparation for the Worlds in Bergen and I need these kilometres from La Ride. Anyone who dares and feels like it, is welcome”, says Marianne Vos.

A day later, on Sunday 17 September (10 am), Riejanne Markus has her La Ride, also taking the cyclists to her favourite training roads in Noord-Holland. “We start at the club house of WTC De Amstel (Startbaan 3A, Amstelveen) and continue until everyone has passed the magical mark of 100 kilometres. I hope that many cyclists – men and women – will participate and that they will still be in my wheel upon arrival”, says Riejanne Markus.
About La Ride
During the month of September, Ridley tries to get as many women on the bike as possible, worldwide, for rides of at least 100 kilometres. Everyone gets to pick the day, time and place. The condition is that the ride is completed within one day. Also, participants need to be a member of the Strava-club La Ridley in order to check if the challenge has been successful. Women who succeed, receive a virtual goodie bag with vouchers of different bike-related brands.
