Even though the first 3 editions of La Course were raced in the heart of Paris, this year, the French race, linked to the Tour de France, is taking place in the Alps. WM3 Pro Cycling starts this coming Thursday in the mountain stage from Briancon to the famous Col d’Izoard with the following strong line-up: Anouska Koster, Valentina Scandolara, Lauren Kitchen, Kasia Niewiadoma, Anna Plichta and Marianne Vos.
The format of La Course is this year completely different. Not only has the Champs-Elysées been replaced by the Alps, the programme also foresees a second stage linked to the WorldTour-race. On Saturday, 2 days after the mountain stage, there will be a pursuit in Marseille on the same track where the male riders in the Tour de France complete their time trial. Only the best 20 riders from the mountain stage to Col d’Izoard get to start.
Marianne Vos won the 1st edition of La Course. Last year, she finished 3rd and is again present this year.
