Kasia moves one place closer in final stage Giro Rosa

Kasia Niewiadoma moved one step higher in the general classification after the final stage of the Giro Rosa. Our Polish rider finished 3rd in this stage, hereby securing a 6th place in the overall ranking. The WM3 Pro Cycling riders were prominent in the final stage.

A leading group with 8 riders was formed after kilometre 40, including Anna Plichta on behalf of WM3 Pro Cycling. This group stretched an advantage of maximum 2 minutes and 10 seconds. Another small group started the chase with Anouska Koster, amongst others. The escapees were caught shortly before the ascent of the volcano Mount Vesuvius.

“The riders guided Kasia Niewiadoma very well to the bottom of the Vesuvius”, says DS Jeroen Blijlevens. Our Polish rider proved once more to be one of the best climbers of the peloton. She countered attacks and crossed the finish line as 3rd behind stage winner Megan Guarnier and Amanda Spratt. Kasia moved in the general classification from the 6th to the 5th place.

Mixed feelings
DS Jeroen Blijlevens was pleased with the team’s accomplishment in the final stage. “We have raced assertively today.” The overall performance of WM3 Pro Cycling in the Giro Rosa is being assessed with mixed feelings. “I’m looking back at the Giro Rosa with mixed feelings. When travelling to Italy, I had hoped for more. It unfortunately didn’t work out, and we should acknowledge this”, says the DS.

Nearly a stage win
Jeroen Blijlevens treasures the positive aspects. “We have been on the attack in several stages with a change to victory in stage 7. Unfortunately, Anouska Koster got a flat tire while she was in the leading group, otherwise, we would undoubtedly have played a role in the stage win on that day.”
