CCC-Liv has started quite well in the OVO Energy Women’s Tour. Marianne Vos sprinted in the first stage to a fifth place in the mass sprint. The victory went to the Belgian Jolien D’Hoore.
“It was a long, intensive stage which became even harder due to the rain”, says sports director Jeroen Blijlevens. “The first day in a stage race is always difficult, because you often have no team to control the race as there is no leader yet in the general classification. We agreed to be attentive and to jump whenever possible. In the end there were only a few breakaways and we knew we had to take a bunch sprint into consideration.”
In the third and final intermediate sprint, Marianne Vos gathered bonus seconds by sprinting to a second place.
