CCC-Liv starts in the Trofeo Alfredo Binda on Sunday. The team has two front-runners for a podium place with Ashleigh Moolman Pasio and Marianne Vos. The team further also relies on Jeanne Korevaar, Pauliena Rooijakkers, Riejanne Markus and Agnieszka Skalniak.
The Italian WorldTour classic consists of a 60-kilometre run-up, including a longer climb, followed by a local lap of 18 kilometres which is covered four times. In the beginning of the challenging final loop, the course consists of a short climb and a slightly longer one of approximately 3 kilometres further down in the race.
“If you consider the editions of recent years, you often see the same scenarios. Either a select group of really strong riders remain, or it breaks in the final lap resulting in a solo arrival at the finish line. I think this year will be no different and I expect many riders who were also positioned in the front in the Strade Bianche", says sports director Jeroen Blijlevens.
“The Trofeo Alfredo Binda has often been right up the alley of Marianne Vos. Last year she was third here; she is in good shape as is Ashleigh Moolman Pasio. We hope to get them both fresh in the final so that we can undertake something. Perhaps Jeanne Korevaar is also able to compete at the front for a long time.”
