CCC-Liv can look back at a great start of the Giro Rosa. The ten-day race through Italy opened on Friday with a team time trial (18 kilometres) and the orange train clocked off the third time. The team had to admit 45 seconds to the winner Canyon-SRAM and 21 seconds to Bigla Pro Cycling.
“The Giro Rosa opened last year with a team time trial as well. It was relatively flat back then, but now there were two climbs of five kilometres, making it difficult for a team as you have to deal with differences in altitudes. One rider is more cut out for the mountains, another one feels more at home on a flat course”, says sports director Jeroen Blijlevens.
“We knew in advance that a number of teams were evenly matched. The form of the riders on the day itself was therefore also an important element. This was fine for CCC-Liv. Ashleigh Moolman Pasio was the big power of the team and the others also did an excellent job. This is hopefully the start of a beautiful Giro Rosa”, says Jeroen Blijlevens.
