For the third consecutive season, Marianne Vos has taken the final victory in the Ladies Tour of Norway. Our Dutch rider gave that performance extra shine by also winning the long final stage (154 kilometres) on Sunday. She jumped at the finish in Halden passed Marta Bastianelli and Ilaria Sanguineti. It was her third stage win.
Sports director Jeroen Blijlevens: “It was a fairly restless race with, mainly at the beginning, many breakaways. Our riders have been vigilantly present at the front and controlled the stage. Even when a leading group of three emerged after 70 kilometre racing, we did not get into difficulty. The best classified rider of that group was at 4.48 minutes in the general ranking, making the situation in our favour. The sprinter teams closed the gap when the intermediate sprint came into view. As a team we were well positioned at start of the three technical final laps. The goal was to defend the general classification, but Marianne Vos was strong enough to also go for the stage victory.”
