Less than a week after winning the world title cyclo-cross (U23), Inge van der Heijden came into action again on Saturday. In the final race of the DVV Trophy in Lille (Belgium) she came very close to the podium. Inge finished fourth, at seven seconds behind winner Sanne Cant.
Inge, confident after her amazing victory in Bogense, took the lead after the start and created a gap; a small mistake, however, undid this. She ended up in a group with Sanne Cant and Loes Sels and added colour to the remainder of the race.
“I didn’t have the legs anymore in the last lap and Denise Betsema had also reconnected with the leaders”, Inge says. “Of course I would have loved to be on the podium, but I am absolutely happy being fourth, especially considering the strong competition.”
