Foodie Friday: oily fish and walnuts as a weapon against hay fever

“Do you ever suffer from teary, burning eyes while cycling? Chances are that hay fever is playing up. Research has shown that the symptoms decrease with a diet rich in omega-3 fatty acids. The key question is of course: what are those omega-3 fatty acids? Well, you can find them in oily fish. Fatty fish, such as herring, salmon or tuna, twice a week can already help. If you're not a fish eater, there are some plant-based alternatives, such as walnuts and flax seeds. Use flaxseed oil as a salad dressing or add a splash to your smoothie. And eat a handful of walnuts every day. Hopefully this will help to reduce your complaints.”

Good (sports) nutrition is very important for the riders of CCC-Liv. In training and competitions they choose the high-end sports nutrition of Eurosport nutrition, characterised by fresh, natural ingredients (no artificial sweeteners). Every week, a rider gives a (sports) nutrition tip that you can take advantage of before, during or after exercise.
