Much earlier than expected, Evy Kuijpers has fully recovered from a back injury that she suffered from a fall in the Prudential RideLondon Classique last summer. Our rider from Brabant, who recently extended her contract with CCC-Liv, is back in training.
“I would have needed 8 to 12 weeks for the recovery, but I only needed seven. Now, as a top athlete, I may be a bit fitter than others, but even so, this is particularly fast. That is probably because the team did not lose any time and I was quickly referred to the right experts, resulting in the correct exercises. I am completely recovered, I have no more complaints and I don’t have any permanent damage. It could have ended differently, because the crash was less innocent than it looked at first”, says Evy Kuijpers.
Evy has since resumed training and made plans for the winter. “There are no more road races. I therefore have to continue to build on the basis of this year and ensure that I will be back next season. This year I have made tremendous progress; hopefully I can take another step forward in 2020. I will have some variety this winter, including mountain biking, power training and road trips. As I have been out of competition for almost two months, I will also compete in a few national cyclocross races in order to experience the drive in a race.”
