The Drentse Acht van Westerveld is the first race of the diptych in the province of Drenthe (the Netherlands) on Friday, 13 March. The Polish Aurela Nerlo makes her first appearance for CCC-Liv. In addition, the team starts with Riejanne Markus, Jeanne Korevaar, Marta Lach, Valerie Demey and Sabrina Stultiens.
“The Drentse Acht is a race which requires constant alertness and instinct to be in the right breakaway. We try to go for a nice result. With Jeanne Korevaar we have someone in our ranks who is in good shape and hopefully can get far. She always raced at the front in the Omloop Het Nieuwsblad and was only caught in the final kilometre on Sunday in Outrijve. Who knows, she might be slightly luckier in Drenthe”, says sports director Jeroen Blijlevens.
“Furthermore, the Drentse Acht is a special race for Aurela Nerlo. It will be her first in the CCC-Liv jersey. We are curious to see what our Polish talent is capable of. So far, Aurela has always left an excellent, motivated impression, during the training camps with the team and in other circumstances. At CCC-Liv, she has every opportunity to further develop.”
