Before CCC-Liv starts the races in the Ardennes, the orange squad will first take on another race: the Brabantse Pijl (Wednesday 17 April). Pauliena Rooijakkers, Riejanne Markus, Marianne Vos, Marta Lach, Agnieszka Skalniak and Evy Kuijpers will defend the colours of the team.
The Brabantse Pijl consists of a longer loop of 80 kilometres with six climbs. The Bruine Put, which is climbed twice, is the one that may sound most familiar. This is followed by a local lap of just under 19 kilometres, including the cobbles of the 1,700-meter-long Schavolliestraat. The riders cover the local circuit three times before finishing.
“The Brabantse Pijl is the last stop for us, before embarking on the Ardennes classics. We want to race assertively and try to make this a success. Evy Kuijpers has had a very good phase and with this profile, the Brabantse Pijl might suit her. Our other riders are also strong and can choose the attack. Should it turn into a sprint, then it is up to Marianne Vos to set the focus”, says sports director Jeroen Blijlevens.
- UPDATE: Riejanne Markus has not fully recovered yet from an illness and will therefore not start in the Brabantse Pijl.
