supporters counted on a predictable stage and a mass sprint, but stage 4 in the Giro Rosa took a different turn two thirds into the stage. The wind broke the peloton in two. kasia niewiadoma was placed in the first group and was able to regain some time in the battle for a possible podium spot. Her gap with number three is 41 seconds.
“We have lost time at the beginning of the Giro Rosa and are aware that the parcours are less challenging than in previous years. Today, we had another rather flat stage. If you cannot make the difference in the mountains, then you have to, if the circumstances are suitable, do it elsewhere. Today, there was an opportunity to use the wind”, says DS Jeroen Blijlevens.
After 76 kilometres into the race, the peloton formed an echelon, partly led by WM3 Pro Cycling. All 7 WM3 riders were in the front. A group of a couple of dozen raced towards the finish line in Ochiobello with Jolien D’Hoore being the fastest and beating Chloe Hosking, who was second, by a small margin. Coryn Rivera was third.
